The adage of “you get what you pay for” applies to this rental. Positive: Our contact was quick to respond but his helpers were not as fast. The owner gave us an 18L bottle of potable water at no charge. For our 10-day stay, he was willing to give a change of linen and towels. He gave us clothes hangers when we asked for them. When we contacted him about the ants on one of the beds, his maintenance guy came and sprayed the entire house along the corners, baseboards and the bases of the two beds. The owner provided a cutting board when we asked for one. We liked how quickly we could access the main highway. The split air conditioning was very helpful and useful but the remote control for the eating area and kitchen had a broken display so we had to use the remote controls from the bedrooms. The owner recommended some sites for us to visit and was helpful in telling us where to find groceries and DIY potable water. Negative: One chesterfield has very little support. The dining room chairs are hard, heavy and uncomfortable (and be very careful you don’t bang your legs/feet against the table legs). Every time you moved any of the chairs, you would get a loud squeaking - the legs definitely need felt pads to minimize the noise. Be wary of the website calling the kitchen a fully equipped one. The flatware was cheap metal. The food tong was made of very thin bendable metal. All pots and pans are cheap ones; the frying pan had a very loose, non-tighten-able handle so be careful if you use it. We discovered two cracked cheap plastic cups and one cracked melamine dinner plate which we reported so that we wouldn’t get charged for them. We had to ask multiple times to get the specified number of towels (kitchen and hand). For 4 people, there was not enough toilet paper to last the 10 days so we had to buy extra. The website description said there were 2 bathrooms - we couldn’t find the second one until we went outside to look at the pool. The second bathroom was only a toilet and a sink in a separate small building and this bathroom was beside the outdoor pool. This toilet repeatedly plugged up (and, yes, we observed the nothing in the toilet except biosolids rule) and when it got replaced, the second toilet also plugged up when there were biosolids in it. There was no proper plumber’s helper; onsite was the type used for sinks but nothing that was designed for toilets. The main bathroom shower gave out very little hot water so it took some adjusting by the maintenance guy before we started getting hot water (do NOT expect a high volume of shower water!). Be careful if you’re going to use the outdoor chairs as the mesh is getting thin on some of them. I don’t like complaining about rental properties so I would hope the owner takes these comments constructively and makes the necessary adjustments/changes even if he has to charge a bit more for the rental price.
